The Lake Lugano
region

Porlezza
Porlezza is
an important tourist center situated at the head of Lake Lugano, surrounded by
the valleys of Menaggio, Carvagna, Intelvi and Valsolda. Porlezza is just 15 - 20 minutes
drive from Lugano to the east, whose airport offers connecting flights to Zurich,
Frankfurt, Paris and Rome.
Milan, with its International Airport, is 75 km to the south.
Menaggio, on Lake Como, is 6 km to the east.
Across the lake, just 15 minutes by boat from Lugano is the
Municipality of Campione dItalia, a well-known tax haven called the
Swiss-Backdoor.
St. Moritz
Switzerlands most famous
ski resort, is 1˝ hours drive to the north. Other ski resorts are a short 20-minute drive
from Lugano. Tourists from all over the world enjoy Porlezzas Mediterranean-type
climate with seven months of summer.
It offers a variety of water sports, five famous golf
courses, tennis, soccer, horseback riding, etc. There are well-appointed shopping
villages, prestige hotels and fine restaurants. Visit its famous Grottos,
family-owned restaurants serving home-style local cuisine, many of which are over 200
years old.

The Rural Oratory of St. Maurizio of the 10th-12th
centuries, the lime oven, and the marble carving of St. Marcos Lion in the village
of Cima.
